ECO4 INSULATION GRANTS

You might think that your home is pretty warm, but according to a report by the Green Building Council as many as 25 million homes are not expected to meet government standards for insulation by 2050. So, your home may not be as well insulated as you think.

How well insulated is your home?

Insulating your loft and cavity walls will make your home warmer and more energy-efficient.

Why? Well, most heat is lost through your roof and walls – approximately 25% through the roof and 35% through an uninsulated wall. So without proper insulation heat is escaping as soon as your heating is turned on.

Why is home insulation so important?

Ensuring your home is correctly insulated is one of the best ways to make sure that your home is warm in the winter and cooler in the summer months – it can also save you up to 40% on your heating bills. If your home is not well insulated it is like going out on the coldest day of the year without a hat or a coat on.

Unfortunately across Great Britain there are still a lot of homes with very poor or no insulation. As a result they have higher energy bills and a lower energy efficiency rating than they could have.

Whilst big improvements to energy efficiency have been made over the last few years with energy efficient appliances, many people don’t realise that one of the best improvements you can make is to install cavity wall and loft insulation – and if you’re eligible it can be done for free.
